Why Use a Window?

Window packaging serves a specific retail function: it allows visual inspection without opening the box. This matters most for products where appearance is the primary selling point — baked goods, handmade crafts, premium textiles, and gift items. In retail environments, windowed packaging can increase pickup rates by 20–40% compared to closed boxes.

Window Shapes

The window shape is cut using a steel rule die, so any shape is technically possible. Common shapes include:

  • Rectangular: The most cost-effective. Straight cuts are simple to tool and produce clean edges.

When Not to Use a Window
