Seasonal Gift Packaging: Plan Your Holiday Orders Early
Why holiday packaging orders should be placed months ahead: peak-season lead times, sample timing and design planning.
Every year, the same mistake costs brands real money: placing holiday packaging orders too late. Gift boxes, festive shopping bags and special editions have production windows that close fast in Q3. Here is how to plan a seasonal packaging program that arrives on time.
Why timing matters
Factories run at full capacity from August to November for holiday orders. Lead times stretch from 25 days to 40+ days, and freight slots get expensive. A common planning rule: order 12 weeks before your in-store or online launch, plus 3–4 weeks of buffer for samples and corrections.
Design with reuse in mind
The best seasonal packaging works beyond one holiday. Choose a design that can be refreshed with a new insert or ribbon rather than redesigned each year. This protects your tooling investment and shortens future lead times. Explore our gift paper bags and rigid gift boxes for structure options.
Sample early, lock early
Request samples 3–4 months before launch. Approve the sample, confirm the production quantity, and lock the order before the factory's peak season begins. Early orders often qualify for better pricing and guaranteed delivery dates.
Plan the freight
Sea freight takes 25–40 days to Europe or North America; air takes 5–7 days but costs several times more. For holiday programs, book freight in advance and consider shipping in two batches so a delay in one does not sink the whole launch.
